My father is from Monteferrante in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo. A quaint Italian village that reminds of how Italy used to be. I absolutely love Italy and Monteferrante! It is a beautiful mountain village with the purest of waters. In fact, people come from miles around to get the water because it is believed that it has medicinal qualities. The people are down-to-earth and friendly and the food is great. Did you know the most chefs come out of Abruzzo in the world! Anyway, I wanted to share my "abruzzese-ness" with you and hope you take stock in the fact you are in company with some of the greatest people in the world!

My grandparents arrived to the U.S during the 1920s and lived in Pennsylvania during the late 1920s and 1930s. Most of my relatives now live in Michigan and would like to trace our family name(DiVitto, GianFrancesco, and Riciutti). My father tells me that our family lived in Aquila and Rocaraso. I hope to visit my relatives, who still live in the region, this summer with my wife and travel to all of the beautiful areas my grandfather told me about when I was a child. My mother and father were both born in Montenerodomo, Abruzzo, porvince of Chieti. My father's name was Albert Ross, originially Rossi and my mother's name was Frances Ross also orginally Rossi. My paternal grandfather's name was Fred Rossi and my grandmother was Carmella. My maternal grandfather was John Rossi and my grandmother was Filomena Nero. Ivisted Montenerodomo in 1989 and I think it is one of the most beautiful areas I have ever seen. At that time, my mother's cousin, Rose Rossi was still alive but I've lost contact. Both my grandfathers came to the States in the early 1900's and sent for their families around 1920. They lived in and around Pittsburgh, PA. I believe I have many relatives in that area but I've lost touch with them. I'd love to hear from anyone out there, Italy or US who thinks they might be related to me.
